Cardigan Bay Rock 'n' Rolling Around the World!

CBRNR forges links across the globe

Cardigan Bay - May 18, 2006 - Recently-formed dance club Cardigan Bay Rock ‘n’ Rollers (CBRNR) has had a busy start to the year. Several of its members have ventured to foreign climes and forged friendships with other jive, swing and rock ‘n’ roll groups across the globe.

Two of its founding members, Celia and Graham Lang, flew to Bangkok and New Zealand , picking up new moves and teaching the locals a few steps of their own. The groups in Rotarua , New Zealand are particularly interested in staying in contact and keeping each other up to date with what is happening in the dance scenes 12,000 miles apart!

Closer to home, this month’s Whitsun Dance at Cilgerran Village Hall (Saturday 27 th May) is headlined by BackTrax, a popular four-piece covers band performing numbers from the 50s to the present day. Everyone is welcome to come along and dance the night away. There will be an hour of simple tuition at the beginning of the night ( 7:30 – 8:30pm ) to help anyone not familiar with rock ‘n’ roll dancing. The emphasis is to break the ice and to help everyone to get up and dance. Bring your own refreshments. Entry is £5 per person on the door.

CBRNR is also looking for youth groups that may be interested in putting on a dance or workshop. Dancing is an excellent form of exercise as well as a great way to meet friends and socialise. The moves learnt in rock n roll and modern jive can easily be adapted and used in lots of other dance forms, making it an extremely versatile and enjoyable skill to learn. If you run a youth organisation in the Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire or Ceredigion area, or you are a member of a club that might be interested, we would be very happy to hear from you and discuss arranging a workshop or dance.

CBRNR is a not-for-profit club which was set up by a group of keen dancers early in 2006 to promote dance amongst all age groups and to focus on the fun aspects of the art form. Dances are held regularly on the last Saturday of every month in Cilgerran Village Hall (less than 4 miles from Cardigan – signposted from A478).

If you run an organisation that may be interested in running a dance workshop for its members, or if you are in a band that may be interested in playing at one of our workshops or regular dances, please contact us using the details below.
